Jon Weir brings over 40 years of unmatched expertise in the building envelope and exterior wall industry to DSE Experts. His career spans continents, having led complex façade projects across the United States, Europe, and Asia. Jon’s background includes design and consulting for major office towers, residential developments, civic centers, universities, and airport terminals. He has an extensive track record in both new construction and the forensic analysis of exterior cladding systems.

Jon’s professional experience is built on a foundation of deep technical skill, starting with his early work for one of the nation’s largest curtain wall contractors. After moving into consulting, he expanded his reach internationally, managing projects in Hong Kong and the broader Far East. Since relocating to California in 2000, Jon has continued to lead both national and international projects, while also focusing on condition surveys and remedial façade design.

In addition to his design and project management work, Jon has developed a strong background in forensic investigations of building envelope failures. He has been retained as an expert witness on numerous occasions involving curtain wall performance, system failures, and construction defects. His litigation support experience includes detailed failure analysis, preparation of expert reports, and testimony in deposition and trial settings.

Jon holds a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering Technology. He is affiliated with professional organizations including the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), ASTM International, and the National Glass Association (NGA), among others.
